Pathways is an individualized training and mentoring program designed to prepare professional interpreters for Video Relay Service (VRS). Participants in the program engage in language and interpreting mentorships, as well as other training activities to develop specific skills to become effective video interpreters (VIs).

The program uses a hybrid approach with the first 6 weeks of the program being completed from home and the final 4-6 weeks completed from home and from a Sorenson VRS center. To be considered for the program, candidates must have a qualifying New Hire Screening score received within 6 months of the start of the cohort. Participants who successfully complete the Pathways program will transition to a VI role within Sorenson.
SAIL, which stands for Skill Advancement: Interpreting and Language, is a comprehensive self-paced training program, offered to employees at Sorenson.  This program offers you dedicated time to polish your skills. It includes a variety of different trainings at no cost to you. And, here's the best part...you can earn CEUs!  Along the way there are mock calls that allow for individualized feedback on patterns in your interpreting work. ​
The Distance Learning Program provides webinars, interpreting and language group mentoring, and self-paced e-learning activities that support interpreter’s professional development. In addition, we provide unique trainings throughout the year that highlight our consumers’ diverse cultural backgrounds and bring awareness to social justice and power and privilege dynamics. All our offerings are eligible for RID CEUs and we provide certificates that can be used for professional verification requirements in your state. Instructor-led webinars can be attended from the comfort of your home.
